MWCC & Energize Gyms proudly brings us the race of truth hill climb challenge. Fancy yourself as a bit of a mountain goat? Always complain that races don’t suit your style because too many of them are flat sprint fests? Shop at the same butcher as Contador? Get dropped on every climb? Well this is the race for you!
MWCC is hosting a hill climb challenge on the 26 August. Essentially this is Sydney’s unOfficial Hill Climb Championship. This will give you the bragging rights on strava, this will have you heralded as the King or Queen of the Mountain. This can also be a great chance to see how far behind you are from the front of the pack.
Last year we raced from Illawong Bay to the top rangers box, this year we want to prolong the suffering and therefore riders will be rolling out from Akuna Bay from the D’Albora Marina Carpark. The start location provides plenty of room to warm up on the wind trainer, toilets and a place to buy your espresso. More importantly the roll out will give you a bit more riding time before facing the wall and switch back once you pass through Illawong Bay.

This event gives you a chance to set your own PB as well as rank yourself amongst Sydney’s climbing elite.
The first rider will roll out at 8am, subsequent riders will leave in 1 minute gaps. Sign on from 7:15am
Total ride distance is 7.9km approximately. The quickest time on the course is 16 minutes 40 seconds.

Most importantly here is the strava segment – will anyone knock MWCC rider Andy Crawley off the top spot?
Electronic timing will be provided on the day, so there will be no relying on yours mates dodgy cycling computer or their version of their time when comparing times. There will be trophies for select divisions on the day and bragging rights handed out. MWCC club members will be battling it out for limited edition MWCC Polka Dot club jerseys.
Entry will be $15 on the day with a 2012 cycling licence.
One day licences can be purchased for an additional $30.
We welcome all clubs and teams to come along and they are welcome to hold their own championships within the race – with all results being printed out at various times and intervals. There is plenty of room for cars and tents to be set up at the start location within the car park.
Individual riders will roll out from the start house at D’Albora Marina Carpark in 1 minute intervals. Street address is Liberator General San Martin Drive, Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park.
The finish line is at the top of Liberator General San Martin Drive, Ku Ring-Gai Chase National Park at the top Rangers Box. This is where the road meets McCarrs Creek Road.
The only truth will be in the time that you cross the line.
