MWCC Akuna-West Head Road Racing 11 November
MWCC would like to encourage all ladies to take up the challenge of road racing and pin on a number at our monthly road race. On November 11 we will be offering free entry to all ladies who have a 2012/2013 racing licence. If you don’t have a racing licence – you will only have to purchase a one day racing licence ($30) and the club will cover the entry fee.
We hope that we will have enough numbers to run two separate women’s races – one for experienced riders which will feature 2 laps of our West Head course (approx.52km) and a less experienced riders race – 1 lap (28km). This will be on the basis that we have a minimum of 10 riders per grade. If we don’t have the required number of riders, the female riders as per our normal races – will ride within the C and D Grades – we will still have prizes for first females across the line in these grades if that is the case. This is your opportunity to put all that training into practice. Race for free and potentially win money!!
But wait there’s more… being November 11 – Armistice Day, we will also offer free entry to any World War One Veterans.
As usual our road race will be signing on from 7am for all grades down at the Akuna Bay Marina. There is plenty of parking available in the car park and there is a coffee cart and toilets available. Our race can send your heart rate rocketing from the roll out, so we do encourage riders to be warmed up and recommend that you consider parking around Terrey Hills and riding into the park, to ensure that you have had a good warm up prior to race start.
We would request that you do not park in the Elvina Walking Track car park – this not only assists our marshalls when they head up there to set up for the finish, but also assists with our relations with the National Parks.
This month grades A,B and C will be completing two laps and D Grade one lap, with the finish at the usual location of the Elvina Walking track Car park at West Head. With A Grade only completing two laps, this is a chance for a number of riders to step up into A Grade and stop sandbagging B Grade. Will the Central Coast riders take all the podium positions for a second month?
Grades will commence racing from 7:30am down at the Akuna Bay Marina. Typically the race times are as follows – A Grade roll out at 7:30am, B Grade 7:35, C Grade 7:45 and D Grade 7:50
Entry fee is $10 if you have a GOLD 2012/2013 licence. Take this opportunity if you are thinking of racing, to pull out your CA licence and look at it. If it is gold then you know you have a racing licence, if it is any other colour then it isn’t a racing licence – so don’t be shocked or surprised when we require you to purchase a one day licence. Gold = Racing. Silver = Non Racing (that is why it is cheaper) – you can upgrade via the Cycling Australia website.
$10 Entry – with a 2012/2013 licence (free if you are a female rider)
One day licences are available for $30 if you don’t have a GOLD racing licence
Race Date: 11 November 2012
Sign on from 7am and Race Start 7:30am – D’Albora Marina, Akuna Bay
Grades A-D – All clubs and riders welcome.
