Friday Night Crit Races Start 6 December

MWCC are bringing criterium racing to the Northern Beaches. Not content with our road races and cyclo cross events, we are now launching our summer series of crit races – TGIF just got a lot more entertaining.

Thanks to a small working team of volunteers, MWCC has managed to get the HART Driver Training venue at St Ives for the Friday nights during daylight saving. This will give all of those riders on the north side a chance to win some beer money before starting the weekend.

Racing will start 6 December. Riders will be able to sign on from 6:00pm with racing to start from 6:30pm. We are hoping the later start suits all the riders coming from the CBD.

The length of the races will vary as the season goes on as we juggle the schedule with the level of sunlight. But in the early days riders can expect the races to go from between 45 minutes to 60 minutes.

Entry will be $15 on the line for all gold racing members. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer day licences or accept MTBA licences. So this race will be for GOLD licensed members only.

Initially we will be running grades A-C, this may expand once we see how the grades are running and the numbers that are turning up. We will look to also expend into a Juniors race, again once we have all the bugs ironed out.

The C Grade would be suitable for most D Grade riders, due to the multi lap nature of the races and the terrain. If the numbers are there, we will expand into a D Grade in coming weeks.

If you are nervous about entering, why not read our guide here –https://manlywarringahcc.org.au/news/racing-how-to-enter-and-what-to-expect-a-beginners-guide/

When riding this course – do not pedal through the hairpin. This has brought down many riders in the past, with some very painful results.

Please wear club kit(or unbranded plain kit if you have no club kit), or registered Team kit in A grade as per recent Cycling NSW directives. Manly Riders will be asked to commit to marshalling one week of racing, when they sign on, please remember these races are run by volunteers.
