Richard Gordon, an MWCC club member, will be riding in the Share the Road Tour of Tasmania to support the Amy Gillett Foundation. AGF is a charity that champions safe bicycling in Australia to reduce and hopefully eliminate bike-related fatalities in Australia. The charity was created in memory of Amy Gillett, one of Australia elite cyclists, who was tragically killed while training in Germany in July 2005. More details on the AGF’s achievements can be found here:

Each year in Australia, an average of 37 cyclists are killed and over 9,000 are seriously injured, with thousands more incidents going unreported. The majority of these collisions involve a motor vehicle and most are preventable.

The Share the Road Tour of Tasmania is a challenging four day event where a group of like-minded riders will be cycling with current and former professional cyclists through some of Tasmania’s most rugged landscape, riding between 120-160kms a day.

Richard needs to raise a lot of money in a short space of time. If you think about how much you spend on “essential” bike accessories, a sizeable donation to a charity that can directly benefit you and your friends and family is surely deserving of your support, so please give generously.

You can donate online by clicking here: Donations of $2 and over are fully tax-deductible.
