There are an increasing number of opportunities for women to race in a much better smelling and without the testosterone induced rage peloton. If you are a female with a racing licence, then here is your opportunity, of course if you don’t have a racing licence, then a 3 Race Licence is perfect for this series of races coming up. It starts this Sunday at Heffron Park, Maroubra. We have all the details in this article.

Sydney Uni Velo are hosting an open women’s race as part of their round of the Battle of the Bridge this Sunday July 30. The womens race is open to all ladies regardless of the club you are a member of. The racing will start at 7:30am and riders can sign on, get their number and have a  warm up on course from 7am. Heffron Park is a flat, car free course and is a popular racing venue for many Sydney siders.

There will be a coffee cart and plenty of spectators to cheer you on and with the multi loop nature of the race and the circuit, you are never far from home or out of sight.

Then in August Randwick Botany Cycling Club are running a Womens Race Series which again is looking to increase the quality and number of events that are on the calendar.

These two rounds held on 12 August and 9 September are on a Saturday afternoon at Heffron Park, so you will get to learn the course and improve your technique every race.

Riders can sign on from 1:30pm for a 2pm race which will be a 12 lap course.

Then hope in the car and head up to Newcastle of the Ladies weekend away with racing around the flat Kooragang Circuit in Newcastle on August 27.

The licence is for a calendar year, with a reduced fee from June. In October you can actually join or renew for a 15 month term. There are typically no further costs to joining a club once you have your membership, although you may wish to purchase the clubs riding kit.
