Looking for an activity that will get the kids out of the house and off the computer for a few days in the school holidays? Sports Camp Australia are running road bike and mountain bike two or three day ‘camps’ for kids to brush up and enhance their riding skills. These courses are run by accredited coaches and provide fun and skills on the bike.

Mountain Biking

Sports Camps Australia has joined forces with Michael Brown to offer a Mountain Bike Camp for athletes between the ages of 8 – 16 years at the Old Man Valley Trail in Hornsby NSW. Camps will take place during the school holidays on the 15-17 April and are open to riders of all skill levels looking to have fun!

The SCA Mountain Bike Camp was created to help you learn new technical skills and develop the techniques required to improve your riding in a relaxed and professional atmosphere. Your instructor will provide you with personal instruction and feedback to help you understand how to ride faster, smoother and with more style and motivation than you ever have before.

At SCA Mountain Bike Camp you will find that your skills and riding ability will be challenged at times, but you will achieve things that you never thought you could. And best of all you will have serious fun flying down the trails!

All riders are required to bring their own bike and must be able to ride UN-ASSISTED!

Highlights Include

Nike Prizes, Camp Certificates and Daily Evaluation Tips.
Each camper receives a Sports Camps Australia Nike T-Shirt.
10:1 Camper to Instructor Ratio
Instruction by qualified staff/coaches.
The trail starts at the Trail Head at Quarry Road, Hornsby near the Crusher Plant (at the Trail Head Sign) and heads north downhill for approximately two kilometres of amazing flowing berms, rollers and board walk. A one kilometre gradual and scenic climb takes the rider up a fire trail, then turns left to follow the single track that gradually climbs up behind the TAFE and Pool, and then shoots the rider back up to Quarry Road at the fire trail gate.

The Old Man Valley has trails that meet IMBA guidelines for Green Circle (easy), Blue Square (Intermediate) and Black Diamond (Advanced). Green circle trails are typically wide, quite flat, and void of obstacles. The Green Circle Loop is located on the large open grass field in the middle of Old Man’s Valley. Blue Square Trails are narrower and include obstacles of intermediate difficulty, but give the rider the option to bypass difficult obstacles if they so choose. The main loop is currently mostly Blue Circle, with two main options to take the Black Diamond sections. Black diamond trails are narrow and contain mainly unavoidable obstacles.
