MWCC are looking to combine your passion for cycling, with a scenic weekend getaway of gourmet food and award winning wines. Our highly experienced travel team will provide you with the route, accommodation and eating options to fit all budgets and abilities. Let MWCC treat you and your non riding partner to the perfect long weekend get away. Ride, wine and dine.
Using our vast experience of road riding and holiday trip planning, our team has selected the stunning Hunter Valley for our April retreat. Our travel experts have the ride route to the Hunter Valley mapped out, with different ride groups to get you there. Just when the going gets tough, you may sense your friendly ride companions handing you a spare bidon or the jovial chat that goes with a few hours on the bike shared amongst riders as you make your way out of the bustle of Sydney to the relaxing and rolling terrain of the Hunter Valley.
Leaving Manly on the Saturday morning, riders will either make their way up the Old Pacific Highway towards Mount White before heading out towards Peats Ridge on the long route of 174km approx. Alternatively riders may choose the more scenic route, of a ride to Palm Beach and a ferry over the glistening water to Ettalong before climbing out of Gosford which will be the main challenge of the day for a ride route of 140km.
If riders feel that the route is getting a little too much for them on the Saturday, they can simply return to the team car or sag wagon that will be making the journey with them. To give you that feel of a pro rider on Tour, on the first night, there will be a team dinner at an award winning hotel, The Royal Oak. This will give riders a chance to share their experiences from the day with one another.
Non riding companions are welcome to meet you at the Hunter Valley once you arrive in on your bike.
Day two, riders will have the option of an early morning coffee ride or a gentle lie in. Enjoy a freshly ground coffee while overlooking the vineyards and enjoying the crisp, fresh country air.
Then riders will have the choice of either a group or individual tours of some of the regions best wineries, where they can sample and purchase the Hunters internationally recognised fine wines. Or riders may choose to spend the day sight seeing or even staying in the hotel for a rejuvenating massage and well deserved relaxation time.
On the evening of day two, riders will have the choice of a highly decorated fine dining option or a more relaxed dinner. It is completely up to the rider and any of their travel companions as to which option they choose. Riders and their partners can also dine alone and not with the group at any of the restaurant options. We want to provide the recipe for relaxation and fun for you and your travel companions.
Day three riders will depart in the morning after a hearty breakfast. Riders will have the choice of making their way home via car, or two route options being the short and long ride options. For riders travelling home on their bikes, we can arrange to have any purchased wine transported back to Sydney.
Non-riding partners are welcomed along to share the memorable experience with you at the Hunter and they are welcome at all events.
April 23,24 and 25 inclusive.
