With summer upon us it is time to launch our Allpress Espresso Womens Ride Series which is an opportunity for the ladies of the Beaches to get out on their bikes in a non competitive environment to explore some different routes, increase their fitness and met other ladies who enjoy riding. This series will be a number of rides over summer that will increase in distance as the kilometres enter your legs.
These female group rides will aim to increase your confidence and fitness on the bike, while being in a non testosterone filled environment. All rides will be led by an experienced MWCC female rider who will be able to offer some tips and advice, while also ensuring that everyone enjoys their ride.
These rides aren’t aimed at complete beginners, rather for riders who already do some riding and are looking to step it up or are looking to ride with some bikeminded riders.
The first ride in the series will be a loop of Akuna Bay leaving from Manly Lagoon from the bus shelter opposite Bike Addiction on Pittwater Road. The distance will be approximately 50kms and will finish with coffee and breakfast. The ride will start at 6am.
The first ride will be lead by Lynne Clarke. Lynne is one of our highly decorated female riders, when she isn’t teaching in the classroom during the week, she is busy putting the miles in on the bike. Lynne started her riding a few years ago with a similar introduction such as this.
The riders will wait at select points at the top of any major hills to allow some riders to race for the top and others to just set their own tempo.
Please ensure you have a working bike and if you have any concerns, consider dropping into into The Fixed Wheel for a quick service prior to the day. We would also recommend the riders have a working front and rear light. The Fixed Wheel are located at 212 Pittwater Road, Manly.
This will ensure that you make it to the finish line to enjoy an Allpress coffee and breakfast at Market Lane Cafe, who are very experienced in serving hungry cyclists.
